Degree Programs
Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET)
ECET students design, build, and test electronic equipment such as audio-visual, communication, computer, and network systems. They may specialize in areas such as: communications, signal processing, control systems, computer electronics & software, analog & digital electronics, and power.
Electronic engineering technology combines engineering knowledge and methods with technical skills to support engineering activities, emphasizing practical application rather than theory and design. Areas of concentration include automated manufacturing and test operations, industrial controls, microcomputer related hardware applications, instrumentation, linear analog integrated circuits, power generation and distribution, digital communications, and biomedical electronic applications.
The continual development and application of new electronic devices and systems ensures a strong demand for electronic technologists. Major industrial and business concerns across the nation have interesting and challenging positions available in aeronautics, medical electronics, computers, broadcasting, telecommunications, factory automation, and robotics. Graduates may work within the engineering team in applied design, product development, manufacturing, production, or technical operations.
The Electronics & Computer Engineering Technology program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of ABET, 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD21202-4012, telephone: (410) 347-7700.
