The Department of Engineering Technology and Surveying Engineering (ETSE) offers a variety of degree programs, minors and concentrations to choose from. With dedicated faculty and staff, students are given the professional and personal attention needed to help them live, learn and thrive in their chosen field of study. Students in the ETSE programs receive an education in the practical applications of engineering principles. Linking theory and application, our students are given the academic background and hands-on applications that give them the knowledge and experience in order to hit the ground running upon graduation.

ETSE offers six different Majors, three Associates Degrees, six Minors and four Concentrations. From the traditional Engineering Technology programs and Surveying Engineering, to Information and Communication Technology- a Distance Education Completion Degree; ETSE is one of the most diverse degree granting Departments at NMSU with a far-ranging comprehensive program. ETSE also offers associate degree programs in Electronics and Computer, Mechanical , and Civil Engineering Technology.

Lists of course equivalencies are available for students transferring to NMSU from most New Mexico and some out-of-state institutions. In addition, the department has some extended articulation agreements, or can provide a method of validation of transfer coursework in many technical subject areas. The department requires that at least 21 credits, specifically in the transfer student's program, must be earned at the main campus of NMSU. General degree requirements of the College of Engineering and NMSU apply to students in ETSE. Many ET-prefixed courses carry one or more prerequisites. The instructor of a course may waive a prerequisite(s) for a student, is doing so will not negatively impact the quality of the student's educational experience.
